I haven't been able to bring myself to map for some years now, I gave it a go a few months ago but nothing came of it. I guess now I feel apathy when it comes to the subject, I'm so disappointed that no good games have been released in some years. There is no motivation for me to continue.
Hopefully Natural Selection 2 will be amazing and reinvigorate me, I remember what it was like to have that passion burn but now it's gone. I'm pretty bitter about the whole thing.
Battlestar Galatica Final
What a fantastic end to an exceptional story, I have no reservations in declaring BSG was the greatest show in the history of television, the final was bitter-sweet, the end of the series but having closure with such and amazing end. I can't put into words how amazing BSG was, the collection of people who came together over the years to give us that gift are very special and I hope until the end of their days they know that. Thanks BSG team.
HOME!
Going home to Auckland this thursday!1!11!!one!
Oh the hilarity of it all...
Today I came across this rather amusing report on CNN.com - here is an excerpt:
NEW YORK (CNN) -- The founder of an Islamic television station in upstate New York aimed at countering Muslim stereotypes has confessed to beheading his wife, authorities said.
Muzzammil Hassan has been charged with murder in the death of his wife, Aasiya Hassan.
Muzzammil Hassan was charged with second-degree murder after police found the decapitated body of his wife, Aasiya Hassan, at the Bridges TV station in the Buffalo suburb of Orchard Park, said Andrew Benz, Orchard Park's police chief.
I have to say the irony of it all is quite amusing, I wonder how far this will go toward fighting the negative stereotypes associated with muslims. Obviously it isn't funny that a woman was murdered, perhaps this is in bad taste.. sue me.

Another one of those "it's been a long time since I posted" posts... Joy! Well I've stupidly been wasting my time playing World of Warcrack, did really well with Wrath of the Lich King though... Up there with everyone else, even got alliance first 3 drake Obsidian Sanctum in 10man so I am pretty pleased at least with my performance and my guilds, was MT prot paladin so I had a harder time than say.. the dips..
On the lighter side I am giving that up, really sick of wasting my time on it. I am moving back home to sweet Auckland NEW FKN ZEALAND! Yeah i'm pretty excited, my younger sister Angela is pregnant atm, she is to give birth midyear so that in itself is really exciting. I have also decided to further my education, I really don't want to end up old and look back on my life to see I've worked some dead end job and never been happy with it, that said my main motivation is that I want to contribute to our sometimes wonderful human race, I don't see too worthwhile things to do with ones life. I have been tossing up between doing a bachelors in Science, music, arts etc... On one hand I find that I am exceptionally fascinated physics, astrophysics in particular, I desire to learn all that we know about the universe and be part of finding out more, finding out the way things that we cannot explain work, find out the nature of the universe. On the other hand music just wows me, how a good song can just blow you away, how it makes you feel... I do hope that my experience is shared by everyone, it's really just amazing and I wouldn't mind contributing my music to this world for the rest of my life because I think it would be so rewarding to make music and be able to uplift people with it. Two really tough choices but I hope to ponder some more over the coming weeks - I look to go home about 5 weeks from now so I have the time.
It's funny how this all worked out, I was once so intent on making a career out of game development and although that is still a possibility I just hate the idea of having to map on demand... I mean it is an art form like any other, you cannot force art and you cannot force passion for what you're doing - I really think it would be so empty. I am sure that plenty of people who perhaps felt the same way as me get along just fine working within the industry, I just cant see myself making it through that. I was actually exploring my mapping directories the other night, I found about 40 or so various source projects I never got finished, I really did just force myself to do things just for the sake of continued map production and most of these projects fell flat because I lost interest or never possessed it in the first place. I will map in the future, of that I have no doubt, just will take the right motivation and there really hasn't been any good games released in the last.... 5 or so years lol. Commercialization has really killed off skill games, catering to the masses ultimately means that games get easier and more noob friendly. I would really love the chance to remake Day of Defeat 3.1b, best game ever made, developers need to stop trying to damn hard because they just ruin it, I know for a fact a lot of first generation competitive gamers like myself wouldn't mind playing the same game long term... I mean come on, a new game every 2-3 years with updated technology, mainly eyecandy for those who enjoy it -_- no need to add new crap... keep the content fresh, new maps every few months, keep it rolling. The aforementioned complaints is why I would really love to be in a position to conceptualize games and have the freedom to manage entire projects and make the best games ever. I just wouldn't be able to stand spending 10years working my way into such a position... boring and fruitless.
Until next time chums.

50,000 plays!
Hit somewhat of a milestone the other night, 50,000 plays scrobbled to Last.fm. I joined this AWESOME site on the 13th of September 2006, so in just over 2 years I have played 50,000 mp3s which equates to around 65 mp3s per day on average. My 50,000th track was Dark Forest - Wind and Waves which is an awesome track by the Canadian solo metal project.
I also received my new guitar this past Friday ;D! I ordered a new ESP LTD AX260... this guitar does not disappoint, it's very smooth to play and is wickedly styled. Not a big fan of the fretboard inlays but I got a really good price. The default ESP pups sound pretty sick but I will be putting a DiMarzio X2N in the bridge position for that metal sound.
Keep it metal

Just finished this video last night after working on it this past week. After a couple of versions I wasn't happy with I have come up with something I consider complete.
Huge in Japan is a Call of Duty 2 frag video which features match footage from the Auscod Invite League, Gamearena Ladder & the 3 Minute Men Invite League, including frags against some of the top teams in Australia such as Function Zero, Real Swift, Klutch, XSquad, 3 Minute Men, Team Immunity & more!
